For the last 2 years, I’ve had an Apple iPhone 5s 16GB. When I first got the handset I thought it was a little too big compared to my previous iPhone 4s – I had to train my thumb to stretch to the full diagonal width of the screen and it just barely fits in my pocket. So when my mobile phone contract ended recently, I decided to switch to SIM only and keep my iPhone 5s.
Not only is the new Apple iPhone 6s horrendously overpriced (even compared to previous iPhone models) and they are still skimping on the internal storage sizes for the base model, but the 4.7″ format is just too big. I watched all of my friends and colleagues upgrade after the release, but it failed the pocket test so I would have no secure way to keep it on me while at work.
Don’t get me wrong, I love iPhones and I am adamant they still provide the best user experience over the competition. However, I am also in the demographic that wanted the iPhone 6s to be a 4.0″ device.
Lately, rumors of a new 4.0″ device from Apple have resurfaced which has validated my SIM only decision and halted any daydreams about getting a 32GB version of the iPhone 5s. According to various rumor sites, this new smaller device will be called the iPhone SE and it will be announced in March 2016.
If Apple does release a smaller 4.0″ iPhone with 64GB storage, I’ll be the first to yell “shut up and take my money!”
